Threshold is what's known as a Progressive Web App (or PWA for short).
What is a PWA?
Put simply, a Progressive Web App is simply a website that uses the latest in web technology to make the site look and function like an app you would download from an app store.
Why are they beneficial?
- Consistency: No matter what device, operating system, or browser you’re using, PWAs look and behave almost identically.
- Reliability: PWA’s load super fast and can even work offline or on low-quality networks. So if you’re going to a Threshow somewhere with a weak network, you won’t have to worry about not being able to pull up your ticket.
- User Experience: Just like the apps we’ve grown accustomed to downloading from stores, PWA’s can be saved to your phone or tablet’s home screen, have push notifications, and a great app-feel. But, unlike those apps, PWA’s are easy to share with others without requiring someone to download and install the app, they're always up-to-date, and they're really fast. 😀
